Silicon carbide (SiC) serves as a deoxidizer for steelmaking, reducing the liquid oxygen content in steel through the synergistic effect of silicon and carbon elements, replacing traditional metal deoxidizers such as ferrosilicon and manganese iron.
Silicon carbide appearance
The appearance of silicon carbide varies depending on its purity, and can appear as crystals ranging from yellow to green, or even blue to black. The surface of crystals sometimes presents a rainbow like luster due to the formation of a protective layer of silicon dioxide on the surface.
Black Silicon Carbide (SiC) is a synthetic ceramic material with exceptional hardness (9.5 Mohs), high thermal conductivity, and chemical inertness. Widely used in  metallurgy, abrasives, refractories, and industrial coatings, our SiC products are smelted from high-purity petroleum coke and quartz sand under controlled conditions to ensure consistent quality.

(1) Silicon carbide for refractories
In the process of production and processing of black silicon carbide, a large number of silicon carbide content below 90% is formed and produced, commonly known as low silicon.The main uses of low content black silicon carbide for refractory industry, steel industry deoxidizer, clay, castable, iron trench material.
(2) Silicon carbide for deoxidation and casting in steelmaking
Silicon carbide is a compound formed by covalent bond of carbon and silicon, which is a non-oxidizing material.Because of its significant instability in high temperature oxidation atmosphere, especially when the temperature exceeds 1627℃, the oxidation reaction is rapid.The use of this characteristic in the converter and electric furnace smelting general carbon steel and part of the low alloy steel process in order to achieve the purpose of reducing the cost of steelmaking, has achieved good results.Among them, the most commonly used quality is concentrated in 80%-95%, and the particle size is 0-10mm, 0-5mm, 1-3mm, 1-5mm (the most used in casting).
