Pitch coke is the final product of coal asphalt after being subjected to high-temperature (above 1100℃, often 1200℃) coking in a coke oven.

It is mostly made from medium-temperature or high-temperature asphalt. It is a high-quality coke with low sulfur content and low ash content, and is also a carbon that is easily graphitized. It is black and brittle in shape, has a lustrous appearance at room temperature, has a special smell and is toxic. It is flammable when molten and is a secondary flammable solid.

High carbon content

The carbon content of Pitch Coke products can reach up to 98% - 99.5%. This indicates that in applications, it can serve as an efficient carbon source. Take steel smelting as an example. In the process of increasing carbon content, the high-carbon Pitch Coke can more rapidly and stably raise the carbon content in the molten steel.

Low sulfur and low ash content

The sulfur content is as low as 0.05% - 0.5%, and the ash content is usually below 1%. In the aluminum electrolysis industry, Pitch Coke with low sulfur and low ash content is used to make anode paste or pre-baked anode. When used in this way, it can effectively reduce the emission of harmful gases, reduce the erosion of the electrolytic cell lining, and extend the service life of the electrolytic cell.

Appropriate particle size distribution

Products with a particle size of 1 - 3mm can ensure that the friction material generates a uniform and stable friction force during the braking process, thereby enhancing the reliability and safety of braking.
